Time to resign or apologize …

The Deputy Chancellor of the Republic of Austria, Reinhard Mitterlehner (ÖVP) said in parliament a couple of days ago that it was not the mandate of the King Abdullah Centre for Interreligious Dialogue to speak out against human rights violations by its principal sponsor like the one described in the Amnesty International report linked below.

That statement was no better than the stupid comments by the Centre’s Deputy General Secretary, Ms. Claudia Bandion-Ortner, last October, which finally led to her resignation this month.

How long will it take Mr Mitterlehner to realize that if he wants to save his party’s honour he should resign, or at least provide a formal and abject apology for this deplorable statement?
